Conservatory of Souls
Arya Gopi
I hate simplistic dichotomies
of tantrums and pranks;
I am in love with nuances
of sedentary memories.
I am a female, a citizen of an invisible
Country; neither a patriotic
Nor a nationalist; I seriously chant
disposable prayers at prosthetic phallus.
My blood, sweat, and tears flow out
of the carnal veins, smelling black
and colored nomadic; transposing
cartographies of portable souls. Arya Gopi is a bi-lingual poet who works in English and Malayalam with half a dozen published books including five Malayalam poetry collections. Her first English title Sob of Strings was published in 2011.
